Before you begin

To qualify as a skill provider under Hockey Canada, you must hold:

  • Respect in Sport — Activity Leader (take the course)
  • Gender Expression and Identity Course (HEO page)
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) — completed OR declared

Verifying your qualifications

Log into your Spordle account. Under Members, click your name to open your profile. Your HCR number is shown here — you'll need it for the VSC process.

  • Certifications appear under the Qualifications tab
  • VSC status appears under the Background Checks tab

VSC — two paths

  • No current VSC: first, contact your local police service to have a Vulnerable Sector Check completed. Once you receive it, submit it via the OHF VSC portal (you'll need your HCR number).
  • Valid VSC already: complete the declaration through OHF using the same portal (also needs your HCR number). Once processed, Spordle's Background Checks tab will update automatically.

Once Spordle shows all three as Completed, you've satisfied Hockey Canada's requirements.

Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
Two paths: submit a new VSC via the OHF portal (after getting one from your local police service), OR complete a declaration through OHF if you already have a valid one.

What happens next:

Once hockeylinx central admin reviews your submission and verifies your credentials via Spordle, your profile will appear on the hockeylinx public directory. Associations on the platform can then choose to feature you on their own directories.
